How to turn your jeans into shorts...

I have this pair of jeans that I absolutely love, but can no longer wear because they have a huge hole in the leg.  Over the weekend I watched a couple of YouTube videos to learn different methods to transform jeans into shorts.

They look pretty good, right?

Unfortunately, the fit of the jeans was such that cutting and rolling the jeans made them extremely tight around my leg.  They just didn't look right. This probably could be fixed with some sewing know-how.  I'm sure you could open up the seam to make them looser around the cuff.  Fact is, I'm no sewer (not yet anyway).

Instead I bought myself a pair of Loft cuffed shorts to sport this summer.

Veggie Garden Update

We transplanted our germination pods into larger pots a few weeks ago.  The plants were outgrowing the pods and desperate for more space to grow.  We lost a few plants in the transplanting process.  Some were just too weak to even try moving.

The most troublesome veggies so far:  lettuce and onion.  Hubs thinks that these plants didn't get enough light early on.  He tried to revive them by leaving them in the kitchen with the light on, but even that wasn't enough.  Hubs replanted a few onion and lettuce seeds in the larger pots to make up for the losses.

The Great Outdoors

I've been MIA on the blog for awhile. Spring is finally here and we've been getting outside every chance we get.  Whether we are walking the neighborhood after work, or doing a day hike we've been enjoying the warm air and sunshine.

The Woods Are Not Safe

Picture this...or maybe don't.

On Sunday Hubs and I went geo-caching in the woods on a lesser known trail.  We found our first cache, gave up on the second, and started out towards the third when we stopped in our tracks.  I saw something moving in the grass.  And I thought it was an animal.  And then I thought it was multiple animals because of the movement.  And then it stood up and it was a naked man.  I saw his butt.  I said “HUBS!!!  HUBS!!!!” I grabbed Hubs hand and we turned around immediately and headed back toward the main road.

What the?!?!

Lessons Learned:
  • The woods are not safe.  Not even on a traveled trail.
  • Don't geo-cache alone.

Veggie Gardening

Update:  I've been having a really hard time getting the time lapse video to post to my blog.  In the meantime you can check it out at the following link:  Veggie Garden Time Lapse Video

We're experimenting with our first vegetable garden.  We started our seeds in germinating pods last week and they have already sprouted and grown significantly.  It's kind of eery to think about how fast plants actually grow.

We set up the webcam to take pictures of our plants every 20 seconds while we were out for a few hours this afternoon.  Check out this time lapse video to see how much they grew and moved while we were out.

Waiting for our nephew to arrive!

Hubs sister is expecting a baby this month.  We can't wait to meet the little guy!

We typically keep a calendar on our fridge of events occurring each month.  We decided to mark our "best guess" day for when we think "Baby B" will arrive.

Picking one day wasn't enough though...we filled the month of May with our best predictions.

The rules are as follows:

If nephew is born on your best guess day, spouse buys dinner.
If nephew is born on your other guessed day, spouse buys drinks.
If hair status prediction is correct, spouse buys dessert.

Can't you see this is a win-win situation?

Regardless of what day "Baby B" arrives, we'll be celebrating!
